The 4K Mini Action Camera is worth buying if you want hands-free POV video without strapping a brick to your head. It weighs 1.25 oz, mounts magnetically or by clip, and shoots 4K with EIS stabilization. Buy it for biking, travel and pet footage. Skip it if you need a full camera rig.

It Disappears On Your Collar

Clip it to a shirt collar and you stop thinking about it. That’s the whole pitch for this 4K Mini Action Camera, and it’s the thing I show first in the video. 1.25 ounces is less than a AA battery. I’ve worn big action cameras on a chest harness before and you feel every step. This one just rides along.

With three dogs and a toddler, I’m never not holding a leash or a sippy cup. A chest-harness GoPro means choosing between recording and functioning. This one clips to my collar and I forget it’s there until I check the footage later.

4K, 150 Degrees, and What EIS Stabilization Fixes

It records 4K at a 150° field of view with EIS 2.0 built in. The wide angle is why a chest-mounted shot still catches a kid running ahead of you instead of cropping her out of frame. 150 degrees is generous for a camera this size.

EIS stabilization is the feature doing the quiet work here. A body-worn camera picks up every footstep, and electronic image stabilization smooths out that vibration before it ever hits the file. It’s not a gimbal, so don’t expect gimbal-level glide. What it does is make walking and biking footage watchable rather than seasick.

Battery: roughly 100 minutes of continuous 4K with WiFi off, and the included charging pod pushes total runtime toward 300 minutes. That WiFi-off caveat is real. The action camera WiFi is how you pull files off without a cable, but leaving it on costs you recording time. I’d shoot with it off and turn it on at the end.

64 GB sounds like a lot until you’re shooting 4K all afternoon, figure roughly 90 minutes of footage before you’re hunting for space. Offload over WiFi at the end of each day; don’t wait until you’re mid-hike and the camera refuses to record.

Where It Sits Next To a GoPro

This isn’t a GoPro replacement and it isn’t trying to be. A full-size action camera gives you a screen, swappable batteries, better low light, and a much deeper accessory ecosystem. This one gives you something a GoPro can’t: a camera small enough that you’ll actually wear it on a normal Tuesday.

The action camera mount system is the other separator. Magnetic back, magnetic pendant for a one-second chest mount, and a 360° rotating clip for a collar, pocket or belt. Metal surfaces work too, so a bike frame or a fridge door becomes a tripod. That flexibility is what makes it a body camera and a POV camera at the same time.

The Charging Pod Can’t Get Wet

Here’s the catch. The camera is waterproof to 33 feet, but the charging pod that gives you the long runtime is not waterproof at all. So the trip where you most want 300 minutes of battery, a beach day, a kayak afternoon, is exactly the trip where half your battery system has to stay dry in a bag.

The other limitation is the one every tiny camera has: no screen. You frame by trusting the 150° lens and the WiFi app, not by looking at a preview. If you want to compose a shot before you press record, this isn’t that kind of camera.

Who Should Own One

Get it if your footage problem is that you never have a free hand. Dog walks, bike rides, chasing a toddler at the park, travel days where a phone stays in your pocket. The weight and the magnetic clip solve that better than anything I’ve worn.

Pass if you’re building a real camera setup with a screen, external mics and spare batteries. That’s a different purchase at a different price.

If the hands-free thing is your situation, just buy it. At 1.25 oz and magnetic clip-on convenience, the cost of being wrong is low. The cost of missing a year of dog walks and toddler chaos because your hands were full is higher.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it as a dash cam or while it charges?

Yes, it supports recording while charging, so you can keep it plugged in for longer sessions. That makes it workable for a commute or a long drive. Just remember the charging pod isn’t waterproof, so this is an indoor or in-vehicle setup only.

Can I add a microSD card for more storage?

It ships with 64 GB of built-in storage, and that’s what you’re working with. You offload over WiFi to your phone rather than swapping cards. Plan to clear it after long shoots since 4K files add up quickly.

Will the magnet hold on a thick winter coat?

Use the 360° rotating clip instead of the magnet for heavy fabric. The magnetic pendant is designed to sandwich thinner layers like a t-shirt or a light jacket. On a thick coat, the clip is the more secure choice.

Is it okay in rain without the housing?

The camera itself is rated waterproof to 33 feet, so rain is fine. Dry it off before setting it back in the charging pod, which must stay dry. Rinse it with fresh water after saltwater or chlorine.
